WELLBEING AND PEOPLE-SUPPORT CONSULTANCY

Rick has offered a range of bespoke wellbeing and people-support consultancy services for loads of major organisations, including workshops, talks, demonstrations, audits and reviews, as well as specific tasks that collectively enhance the health and wellbeing of people at work. As Lead-Advisor: Workplace for the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, Rick has worked for many years in employee support, in practice and research. He can work with you to design or deliver an effective staff counselling or support service. 

SINGLE-SESSION THERAPY TRAINING

Rick has successfully transitioned the Counselling Service at the University of Aberdeen from one which had a waiting list of up to 5 months to a sleeker service which offers counselling at the point of need (within a couple of days) rather than at the point of availability. He has offered workshops to other Counselling Services and is available to share his knowledge, expertise and guidance. 

SUPPORTING LONG-TERM ABSENT EMPLOYEES

The longer employees remain on sick-leave the less likelihood they will return. The cost in human and financial terms can be huge. Not only are there significant salary/pension costs during an absence but also the stress consequence for the employee could shift from acute to chronic. Equally importantly, absence puts a massive strain on those covering for the extra work-load, which might lead to the wider ripple effect of further stress, reduced morale and additional sickness absence. Rick can offer an impartial, independent 'Should I stay or should I go?' service, working with the absent employee to consider what is in THEIR best interest. Follow-up counselling, coaching or mentoring support can be offered to a returning employee. Ultimately a speedy conclusion is in everyone's interest.

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING CONTENT OR SELF-HELP MATERIAL

Rick wrote 'Guidelines for counselling in the workplace' for the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and was a co-author of the penultimate 'Employer Guidelines' for the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA). He drafted all the original content for the Royal Mail Group RMGHelp website and wrote the suite of self-help leaflets for the University of Aberdeen - see HERE. He can draft or create content for employees in any sector based on their needs and yours.
